In the beginning of my senior year, I wanted a way to still study design even though I had already completed all of the design classes for my degree. I've been passionate about public transit since I was a little kid and wanted to find a way I could combine that passion with my love for design.
My original goal was to edit the existing signage in three of the multi-line stations in the MBTA system: Park Street, Haymarket, and Downtown Crossing. I quickly realized that was a little too much work for what I planned to do, so I ended up just focusing on Park Street. I also realized that the existing signage was not doing an effective job, especially because where it was placed. The signs don’t make sense to begin with, and I finally figured out how to fix that issue in the spring semester.
